We believe the natural world holds fundamental value for kids' physical, emotional, and cognitive well-being. We've experienced the amazing power of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area wilderness. We've seen the ways it can calm and focus children at the same time it stimulates their senses. We want to welcome you and your kids to this place that our families love.

Memories, stories and good family fun ... our goal is to take the mystery out of camping in the BWCA. Not everyone grew up camping and paddling in the Boundary Waters but with a little help, we believe everyone is capable of having a great experience. Spend healthy, high-quality time with your kids. Leave the distractions behind and enjoy making memories this summer in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area of northern Minnesota.

Kelly says:

This project was the brain child of all the outfitters on the Gunflint Trail in Grand Marais, MN. I thought it was a great idea and I was honored that they asked me to help out. I was involved from start to finish and it was a lot of fun playing a part in developing this project and watching it grow. It started out as a simple website and then grew into a book, a website, and a series of presentations, all with the idea of helping people become a "Boundary Waters Family." My wish for the book is that there will be lots of folks out there who use it as a fun tool to get outside, enjoy nature, and maybe even go camping!
